Lovable, Base44 or v0: which to build on?

The Onekode team·

Pick Base44 if you want an app-store presence quickly and the backend in one place. Pick v0 if the design matters most and a developer will add login and the database. Pick Lovable if you want a web app with the backend handled. None of the three builds a native app.

Side by side

Lovable vs Base44 vs v0: what's the difference?

Lovable and Base44 handle the backend for you. v0 builds the front end and leaves login and the database to you or a developer.

Your app

Which one for your app?

Match the kind of app you're building. Each of the three has one thing it does best.

Pick Base44 if…

  • You need an app-store presence quickly.
  • You want the backend, database and login in one place, on every plan.
  • You can live with a web-view wrapper rather than a native app.

Pick v0 if…

  • The design matters most.
  • A developer will add login and the database.
  • You want standard Next.js code that sits on GitHub and hosts on Vercel.

Pick Lovable if…

  • You want a web app with the backend handled.
  • Owning your code through GitHub matters to you.
  • You don't need app-store files.

On design: in one benchmark of Lovable and v0, Lovable scored higher overall (80.54 against 78.31), and v0 won 5 of 10 dimensions, including design output (LLM Tier, 31 Aug 2026, one benchmark, Medium). Lovable users say Base44 looks templated (Reddit, Jun 2026), which is one community's view.

If you need a real native app, none of the three is the answer. The guide lists the tools that are.

Mobile

Can Base44 put your app in the app stores?

Yes, as a wrapper. Since 3 February 2026 a Mobile app tab in Base44 makes iOS and Android files, but it shows your web app inside a phone app. It isn't a native app.

  • Base44: a Mobile app tab makes the files (Base44 docs).
  • Lovable: web only.
  • v0: web apps. Its iPhone app is for prompting, not for the app you make.

A seller of app-store fixes says the Base44 wrapper can't yet take Apple or Google in-app payments (a seller's view). Check that against your own plan before you build around it.

Releasing to the stores takes more than the files. Getting an AI-built app into the App Store →

Behind the screen

What do you do for login and the database?

On Lovable and Base44 it comes built in. On v0 you add it, which suits a founder with a developer.

  • Base44: backend, database and login on every plan.
  • Lovable: a backend through Lovable Cloud, or your own Supabase.
  • v0: Vercel says login comes from add-ons such as NextAuth and Clerk, and the database is one click to Supabase, Neon or Upstash.

If you have no developer, the built-in route saves you the setup. If you have one, v0's add-ons give them standard parts to work with.

In July 2025, the security firm Wiz found a login bypass in Base44 that let anyone join private apps. It was fixed within a day. What to check before you go live →

A real month

What does each cost in a real month?

The entry plans sit between $16 and $30, and all three bill in credits. The plan price is not the bill.

Entry plan, 17 Oct 2026How it bills
Base44Starter $16, billed annuallyCredits
LovablePro $25 ($21 billed annually)Credits
v0Plus $30 per userCredits: $30 a month, plus $2 a day for logging in (Vercel says)

Founders talk about the credits more than the plan price. On Base44:

"Easy to use, but the credit system needs improving"

(a builder, Trustpilot, Oct 2026)

"I've paid $100 per month for the past year, yet I've repeatedly dealt with AI mistakes"

(a builder, Trustpilot, Oct 2026)

Founders rarely discuss v0, so there's too little to quote on its bills.

Exit

Can you leave later?

On all three you can sync your code to GitHub (on Base44, from the Builder plan). What you can't always take is the backend.

Your codeYour backend
LovableGitHub syncOn Lovable Cloud, no one-click move to your own database
Base44GitHub sync from the Builder plan ($40 a month, billed annually)Base44's own, so moving means rebuilding backend pieces

Two more pairs

What about Replit?

Replit builds and hosts in one place. Base44 is simpler for mobile, and v0 is the front end only.

  • Replit vs Base44. Both offer mobile. Base44 wraps your web app. Replit builds mobile apps with Expo and publishes them to the App Store (Replit says), which is closer to native but takes more learning. Base44 starts at $16 a month billed annually, Replit Core at $20 ($18 billed annually).
  • Replit vs Vercel. Vercel is v0's maker and a host. Replit builds and hosts your app in one place, and v0 builds the front end and hosts it on Vercel (Replit says; Vercel says). Wanting just the hosting answer? Lovable and Vercel, explained →
  • Replit vs v0. The same split: Replit builds and hosts in one place; v0 builds the front end and leaves login and the database to you.

From our data

What does the hiring market say?

More founders hire help for Lovable than for Base44 or v0. Of 16,363 Upwork jobs, 174 name Lovable, 63 Replit, 36 Base44 and 20 v0.

  • Who founders hire help for. Lovable 174, Replit 63, Base44 36, v0 20. Collected 7–9 Oct 2026. Posted budgets on one marketplace, not prices paid; direction only.
  • What founders ask to have fixed. In founder jobs that named the tool their app was built with, Lovable 59 and Base44 23. v0 isn't in that list. Onekode coding of founder jobs on Upwork, October 2026.

Founders do succeed on these tools. One Base44 reviewer wrote: "I am 67 years old and recently started my own business" (Trustpilot, 5 stars, Sep 2026). Another moved a website from Wix to Base44 and called it "incredible" (Trustpilot, 5 stars, Sep 2026).

Questions

Questions.

Is Base44 or Lovable better for a beginner?

Both handle the backend, so neither leaves you to set up login and the database. Base44 is simpler if you want app-store files quickly, and it starts at $16 a month billed annually. Lovable makes web apps only, from $25 a month ($21 billed annually), and syncs your code to GitHub. Prices checked 17 October 2026.

Can Base44 make an app for the App Store?

Yes, as a wrapper. Since 3 February 2026 a Mobile app tab makes iOS and Android files, but it shows your web app inside a phone app and isn't native. A seller of fixes says it can't yet take in-app payments (a seller's view). Lovable and v0 make web apps only.

Is v0 or Lovable better if I can't code?

Lovable is usually the easier start, because it builds the backend for you. v0 leaves login and the database to add-ons, so it suits a founder with a developer. In one benchmark v0 won on design output and Lovable scored higher overall (LLM Tier, Aug 2026, Medium).

What is the difference between Replit and Base44?

Both offer mobile. Base44 wraps your web app, which is the simpler route. Replit builds Expo apps and publishes them to the App Store (Replit says), which is closer to native but takes more learning. Base44 starts at $16 a month billed annually, Replit Core at $20 ($18 billed annually).

What is the difference between Replit and Vercel?

Vercel is v0's maker and a host: v0 builds the front end and hosts it on Vercel (Vercel says). Replit builds and hosts your app in one place (Replit says). If you only want to know about hosting, there's a separate page on Lovable and Vercel.

Which of the three can I leave without a rebuild?

v0 is the easiest to leave: standard Next.js code, GitHub sync, and you connect your own database. Lovable syncs to GitHub too, but Lovable Cloud's database has no one-click move. Base44 syncs from the Builder plan, and its backend stays Base44's, so moving means rebuilding pieces.
